The year 2023 is set to become an unforgettable chapter in the history of The Ganesha Lab. Our team solidified with three new members, we successfully launched our associated venture capital fund, incorporated seven new startups into our portfolio, and flawlessly executed the second version of BIOHUNT Summit Miami.

Yet, what defines us is our forward-looking approach, consistently challenging ourselves with ambitious goals. The onset of a new year provides the perfect opportunity to embark on this journey.

While 2023 was a year of expansion and consolidation, 2024 is poised for growth and embracing new Latin American biotech ecosystems. For our BIGinBIO program, we anticipate onboarding 10 startups with the potential to impact the lives of millions of people worldwide.

Catalina Fernández, Program Manager, explains that “at the end of each year, The Ganesha Lab team engages in an internal process, endorsed by the board, to outline the challenges and expectations for the upcoming twelve months. Last December was no different: drawing on our past experiences and incorporating feedback from startups, mentors, partners, the board, and key stakeholders, we have crafted an updated program for 2024, with substantial backing from CIC Miami”.

«BIGinBIO 2024 places a strong emphasis on establishing the necessary foundations for collaboratively constructing a scalable biotech business model, together with a comprehensive strategy to effectively secure capital in private investment rounds,» shared Fernández.

Regarding the portfolio, the company intends to integrate 10 startups through both the BIGinBIO and BIGinBIO US Market programs. According to Camilo Anabalón, Portfolio Manager Life Sciences, «2024 is anticipated to be a highly dynamic and exciting year. In 2023, we surpassed the milestone of 30 portfolio companies from across Latin America. This, combined with our established investment process at The Ganesha Lab Fund and the speedy development of AI and ML techniques influencing nearly every industry, will create a highly conducive environment for our portfolio companies to achieve their goals and prosper. They are poised to capture consistent value from the markets and make a global impact.»

In addition to these pivotal aspects, a new version of BIOHUNT Summit is scheduled for October. Mónica López, Operations Manager, affirmed that «given the success of BIOHUNT Summit Miami 2023, we have decided to host the next edition of the event, which has solidified its position as a key biotech industry gathering, uniting leading Latin American startups with international investors and experts.»
