LATAM Sigma Summit: A gathering of changemakers

On February 6, the first LATAM Sigma Summit took place in Buenos Aires, Argentina, bringing together leading entrepreneurs and industry figures to explore the region’s ecosystem, culture, and opportunities for innovation.
This event marks a significant milestone in the expansion of Sigma Squared Society, a global community of over a thousand entrepreneurs under the age of 26 dedicated to pushing boundaries, transcending industries, and pioneering cutting-edge innovations to drive positive global change.
Under the theme “Raising the Bar in Latin America,” the event gathered the region’s most ambitious entrepreneurs with the goal of elevating the standards of innovation and entrepreneurship.
Representing The Ganesha Lab, Matías Rothhammer, Senior Portfolio Manager, emphasized the transformative potential of technology and innovation, stating that «innovation and technology can significantly enhance the efficiency and profitability of startups in Latin America. This event was key in assessing the biotech ecosystem and the role of AI across the continent.»
Reflecting on the summit, Victoria Costa Paz, CEO of EYWA, shared that her main inspiration for the event came from the words of Julia Zhou, CEO of Sigma Squared, who asked, «What if the most influential leaders had been friends 20 years ago? Perhaps the differences we see today would be smaller, and by working together, we could solve the world’s most pressing challenges.»
Victoria further noted that “personally, I felt this event strengthened our connections. The energy within Sigma Squared Society is unique-built on people who are both humble and bold enough to believe they can change the world.»
In summary, the LATAM Sigma Summit 2025 underscored the power of strategic connections in advancing the biotech ecosystem in Latin America. The participation of key leaders such as Roger Laughlin, Juliana Hadad, Matheus Santoro, Facundo Martín Díaz, and Matías Rothhammer reaffirmed the crucial role of technology and innovation in shaping a more dynamic and sustainable future for the world.
