DeepTech ecosystem gathers in Medellín to tackle global challenges

During the first week of April 2025, Medellín became the epicenter of DeepTech innovation by hosting StarCo, an event dedicated to showcasing advancements in Colombia’s biotechnology ecosystem.
Camilo Anabalón, Senior Portfolio Manager at The Ganesha Lab, participated in the event as a speaker by Alianza DeepTech—Colombia’s science and technology-driven ecosystem, which unites entrepreneurial scientists, startups, corporations, universities, and investors with a shared mission to transform the world through advanced science.
Anabalón shared that his main responsibility was leading the workshop Learning to Invest in DeepTech. He emphasized that «I had the opportunity to introduce tools and processes for identifying high-potential DeepTech investment opportunities and implementing several robust approach to process them—a critical step for ensuring long-term success in this space».
The workshop provided a platform to explore cutting-edge advancements in fields such as medical devices, advanced animal health and human microbiome health. “It was inspiring to witness the collaborative spirit among participants, all driven by a shared vision to address global challenges,” added the Senior Portfolio Manager.
