Advancing Innovation and Investment in Latin America

Over 50 participants, including investors, funds, research centers, government representatives, and related institutions, participated in the Impacto Deeptech Latam event, co-organized by The Ganesha Lab, CITES, GridX, Draper Cygnus, and AIR Capital, and supported by IDB Lab, and associated with Punta Biotech.
Held as a side-event of the renowned Punta Tech conference, the event aimed to build on the findings of Deeptech: The New Wave, a study published in 2023 that highlighted the promising growth of advanced technologies in Latin America and the Caribbean. The study provided key statistics, achievements, and insights into the transformative impact of innovation in the region.
Juan Pablo García, Senior VC Associate at The Ganesha Lab, stated that “through two discussion panels, we explored the best ways to accelerate deeptech investment in the region and the opportunities it presents to investors”.
The first panel, led by CITES, Draper Cygnus, and AIR Capital, examined the perception of deeptech growth across Latin America; while the second panel, organized by GridX and The Ganesha Lab, focused on the critical role of biotechnology, the region’s strongest deeptech sector.
“I see tremendous potential for developing biotech ventures. The key is to keep hosting these discussions to stay updated on the progress of biotech startups in Latin America. We look forward to continuing with the Deeptech Latam Impact initiative,” García concluded.
